5 Inch GWR King George V
This model is a fine example of this popular and sort after model, the Kings were regarded as the pinnacle of the GW fleet being large enough to really do some haulage and 4 cylinder, this model has two identities it is currently pictured in its working guise, with a lot of the fine detail stripped off for ease of use and open cab for easy access to the controls. It also has its fine detail "Sunday best" which shows an extraordinary attention to detail and changes it in to a proper fine scale showpiece these include show roof, toolboxes, sandboxes, tender dome, axelbox covers, dummy atomiser, etc, etc (see pictures!).
The model was started in the 1970's and won no less than two "very highly commended" certificates at Gilford exhibition, the boiler was built in 1991 by Don Brook but the model wasnt finished and put in to service until 2009 by its current owner who meticulously maintained and serviced the model to date, it has current Northern Fed certification & full set of drawings, twin axle pump, injector, steam brake, Mechanical Lub, hand pump & stainless steel tender, The mechanics on it are in perfect working condition, the detail level is second to none and the build quality is to the highest standard so it really is a rare opportunity to own a tiptop model with historical back up/interest. It also has steel carrying frames for both loco and tender.
Chassis and mechanics made to the Wilsons drawings with added details from the Perrier drawings and photographs of the original.
