5 Inch Tram Engine

Street tramways started in the latter part of the Victorian period, they were usually horse drawn and of limited capacity. For larger loads a steam tram engine would be used, usually hauling a double deck tram car capable of taking up to one hundred people.

This model is based on the Kitson steam tram engines built in the 1870’s to 1900’s and used on the 3ft 6” gauge systems in the Birmingham area.

The model is battery powered using our standard chassis and motor system. It comes as a fully painted kit requiring only assembly and wiring. The lining is also in the kit as self adhesive Vinyl for easy application. Also included are route indicators, bell, chimney and destination boards. A dummy boiler can be fitted over the battery at extra cost.

The model will haul up to four adults on level track
